500 million people watch Instagram Stories every day. And the ones that are watching YOURS? They’re your hottest leads of all. They show up each day, just waiting to learn from you, waiting for a reason to engage with you and ask you questions. My question to you is, are you following a strategy to get them engaging with you? Or simply just throwing things up there willy-nilly because you “need to show your face?”
Last week, I put together a free guide on my STORY SELLING FRAMEWORK and I shared it exclusively in the stories. This week, I’ve gotten countless DMs from my audience telling me just how simple the process has been to leverage, and that their engagement rate is up and their followers are willingly engaging me in meaningful conversation with them.
It's not HARD to get strong interaction and warm up your leads on the stories, it just takes STRATEGY, and today I want to dig into HOW you're going to do that - because I know that the biggest point of conversion for me in marketing my business online comes from the interaction that happens on stories.
So let's dig into a few things that are imperative to understand if you feel like there's gold to be minded in your IG Stories...
1) The goal of leveraging Instagram Stories is not conversion. I repeat, the goal of IG STORIES IS NOT CONVERSION. You're probably confused now. I get it. The goal of stories is engagement and ultimately, 2 way communication.
You want them engaging in your polls, answering your questions, sending you DMs in response to what you're teaching. If you're creating content for your stories with the goal of them skipping the part where they talk to you and just checking out, then it's no wonder you're left frustrated.
The goal is simply to get them to engage, so that you can enter into a mutually beneficial conversation. You can release the expectation that you post and then they buy.
2) You need to know WHY they watch you, and double down on the things they want. Maybe you're funny, maybe you're motivational. Maybe you teach her things she doesn't know. Maybe you're relatable. If you don't have a pulse on what she wants more of from you - you need to ask. I know that the reason people watch my stories is not to hear the next start date of my programs, but because they need a kick in the pants and a mindset shift, and they're coming to me to get it. Know your corner of the market, and OWN THE BLOCK, BABY.
3) The secret super power of winning stories is in creating fomo. There are a ton of ways to do this.
- Stories disappear in 24 hours, so make your CTAs on your feed juicy and tell her to head up to the stories to listen in before it's gone.
- You can leverage your "close friends" list to tell her EXTRA JUICY behind the scenes things, so that she has to TELL YOU she wants access to get on that list. (OH HI, QUALIFIED LEAD!)
- From Countdown stickers to something big dropping, to sneak peek behind the scenes access, the stories is the PERFECT PLACE to build FOMO, and you know that is the key to creating just enough tension to get her off the fence and into your thing.
